Annie has worked for ten seasons growing vegetables and raising livestock on small farms in Pennsylvania and Virginia. Her first day on the job at Liberty Gardens in Coopersburg she discovered that farming required both sweat and artistry and offered an open invitation to get her hands dirty and pay attention to nature. This happy realization set her path. Her farm adventures have included a season farming with a team of oxen, community gardening in Bethlehem, farmers' markets in center city Philadelphia, and the recurring joy of enjoying fresh produce right from the earth. Annie received a Bachelor's in Sustainable Agriculture from Prescott College in 2009 and a wealth of education from challenging and joyful seasons at Red Earth Farm, Taproot Farm, Howell Farm, Spring Meadows Farm, and Innisfree Village Gardens. In 2012 and 2013 she dove deep into her love of plants and completed a clinical herbal studies program in Charlottesville, VA. In fall 2013 she moved back home to Pennsylvania to start Broad Wing Farm with her husband, Sean.
Sean is a craftsman and fine carpenter with a passion for farming. He has worked on a pepper farm in Texas, a pastured poultry farm in PA, and picked avocados in California. On his traveling farm journey he was valued as a creative, skilled handyman and left numerous chicken coops, cob buildings, and artful home renovations in his wake. Since resettling in his home state Sean has completed a range of projects, from building a tiny house and creating live edge furniture to constructing barn doors and remodeling a solar greenhouse. Most recently he lived and worked at Primordia Mushroom Farm in Lenhartsville, PA where he often used reclaimed materials to renovate dwellings, barns and more, all with his unique style.
