Ground Cherry - 2 1/4" pot
Ground cherries are one of my favorite plants for the garden -- a reliable fun snack for children and adults.
The ground cherries or husk cherries are ripe usually once they fall to the ground and the papery husk turns whitish golden. The fruit inside will be golden and has a range of flavors from pineapple to sweet-tart tomatillo. In abundance they can be used in jam, ground cherry pie (a PA dutch classic), or just added to sautees that need a little bright sweetness.
Benefit from trellis, but it's not required.
